If we have been using the car a lot and intensively in Winter, common traffic jams and driving at short distances must have had a negative impact on the engine’s performance. In the start-stop driving system the car engine did not manage to warm up well. As a result, condensed water from exhaust fumes and fuel gets into the oil sump and causes the formation of emulsion, also diluting oil with non-combusted fuel. This has surely deteriorated the engine lubrication conditions, reduced the oil viscosity, causing at the same time greater wear and tear of cooperating elements.
In such situations the above-mentioned phenomenon may be observed most frequently through increase in the oil level or lack of its loss despite a long mileage. In such cases, we suggest a seasonal oil change before the Summer starts. As far as the quality and viscosity of oil is concerned, we suggest observing it according to the grade applied permanently before the Winter season; here the oils having the viscosity grade SAE 5W30; 5W40 are recommended.
