Driving in rain is dangerous for many reasons. What should be kept in mind as not to cause danger to oneself and other road users?

  • Reduce speed
  • Keep a longer than usual distance from the next vehicle
  • Avoid abrupt manoeuvres – especially due to the aquaplaning phenomenon, i.e. loss of grip as a result of the water layer remaining between the tyre and the road surface
  • It is also important for the wipers to be in good shape – they must be thoroughly cleaned and the blades should be changed at least once a year
  • Puddles should be overtaken at constant speed, without stopping the car. Water should not reach the chassis as it may damage the car’s electronic systems
